After growing up at boarding school in rural Devon, Georgi studied archaeology and conducted postgraduate research at Durham University. She then embarked on a writing career, starting out as a technical writer for a top software company in Newcastle.

Seeking a more creative environment, she sidestepped into the vibrant world of marketing, working for an event marketing company in London.

Ready for a new challenge, she then spent six years working as a copywriter for an international marketing agency in Moscow, learning to speak Russian during this time. When her husband was relocated to Johannesburg, she worked there as a freelance copy editor, whilst also taking the opportunity to explore South Africa.
