“Austin: Confederate Soldiers Monument. This one is ironic for a few reasons. First of all, it was actually cast in New York City. It shows four guys representing the Artillery, Navy, Infantry and Cavalry topped off by wannabe president Jefferson Davis. Here’s the thing, it’s a monument to the dead but Davis was neither a Texas native nor did he die until several years after the war ended. Texas Rangers monument. While you’re at the capital, rehydrate and hit this monument to Terry’s Texas Rangers who fought alongside future failed leader of the ku klux klan, Nathan Bedford Forrest at the battle of Murfreesboro Tennessee. Texas brigade monument: No no no, stay where you’re at, this one is at the state capital as well because it’s Texas and one cowboy statue just ain’t enough. This one is a bronze statue on top of a marble base and it would be anything but tragic if enough people peed on it to eat away at the foundation and toppel the damn thing….. ”
