“When someone cheats on you, their love for your unique relationship is not there. We take care of the things we love.”
Wayne Mitchell, Cheating in a Nutshell: What Infidelity Does to The Victim

“When an injured party cannot make this farfetched idea of forgiveness work, they will beat themselves up again. It will be yet another thing they failed to achieve. The issue will become not the cheater’s failure to stay faithful but “your failure to forgive”. That is not the correct way to help someone who has been seriously injured. By all means forgive, but know that forgiveness means giving up resentment and letting go of anger. That’s it. Nothing in the nature of forgiveness requires you to keep the victimizer in your house or in your life. Nothing in the nature of forgiveness requires you to trust them again.”
