Gabriel Scala is an American poet, essayist, and educator who grew up primarily in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She holds degrees in creative writing and American literature from Bowling Green State University and the University of Mississippi, respectively. With nearly 15 years experience in literary and academic editing and publishing, Scala has spearheaded the creation of several undergraduate journals such as The Ash, Ashford Humanities Review and Valley Humanities Review. She has served as managing editor of Mid-American Review, founder and poetry editor of Valley Humanities Review, coordinating editor of Creative Nonfiction Books, and co-editor of Tapestry as well as sitting on the boards of The Willa Cather Foundation and VOX Press.
