As a child in rural Oregon, Kate Elliott made up stories because she longed to escape to a world of lurid adventure fiction. She now writes fantasy, steampunk, and science fiction, often with a romantic edge. She currently lives in Hawaii, where she paddles outrigger canoes and spoils her schnauzer.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the Jaran books. I don't currently have a timetable for the completion of the rest of the Jaran cycle, although I know what it covers. My medium term goal is to write a standalone novella as a new entry point into the world (since it's been so long), and while I do have that started, I'm not sure when I will have a chance to finish it. Unfortunately that's all the news I have at the moment. I appreciate your question, and your patience, and thank you SO MUCH for reading.(less)

Cover art by Raja Nandepu.

My grimsweet fantasy road trip (on foot) follows a humble deputy courier forced to guide uppity court officials on a back country route that includes a ravenous fungal gh

Thank you so much for your kind words about "Barnacle." I don't have anything at the moment set in this world, but I do have a concept in mind that I could expand on, should I get the time and space to do so. At the moment I simply don't know if that See Full Answer

Jennifer,

“I will either find a way, or make one.”
Kate Elliott, Cold Magic

“A kiss can be like the world turning over. It can be like the tide of a dragon's dream washing through the unseen world that is hidden to mortal eyes but that nevertheless permeates our being. It can be hot and cold together, as vast as the heavens and yet specific to the pressure of hands and the parting of lips. It raised more intense feelings than I had expected, like being engulfed in a storm of lightning.”
Kate Elliott, Cold Magic

“...because when beauty awes you, you must halt and try to catch your breath and your staggered heart.”
Kate Elliott, Shadow Gate

Lucinda,

thank you so much for the kind words! I don't do a lot on goodreads except mirror my blog posts here, because I know there are people reading such things here who may not be on Twitter or reading blogs. I am always eager to find places where I can say "thank you" to my wonderful readers!
