Curtrina Pharr was born in Charlotte, N.C., in the mid-1980s and raised there during a time when the city experienced tremendous growth and became the second-largest financial center in the U.S. Orphaned at age nine and homeless by age fifteen, Curtrina grew up in a darker version of Charlotte that most people wouldn’t recognize. New friends, faith, and the birth of her son helped her to imagine a better future and to start creating it. Now a mother who is working her way through school, Curtrina has published her memoir, Confessions of an Abandoned Child, to help kids, teens, and women by inspiring them to overcome situations of abuse and neglect.
