Dines was an award-winning Brazilian author and journalist who had a career that spanned an impressive five decades. He has taught journalism since 1963 and has directed or established several magazines or newspapers in Brazil and Portugal.
In addition to working as a journalist, Dines has written over 15 books, including Death in Paradise, the Tragedy of Stefan Zweig (1981) and Fire Links – Antônio José da Silva, the Jew and other stories of the Inquisition in Portugal and Brazil (1992). His book about Stefan Zweig was adapted into the film Lost Zweig (2002)
