Es licenciado en letras hispánicas por la Universidad de Guadalajara e ingeniero ambiental por el Instituto Tecnológico de Ciudad Guzmán, además de maestro en estudios de Asia y África por El Colegio de México. Ha sido becario del Programa de Estímulos a la Creación y al Desarrollo Artístico en Jalisco en la categoría Jóvenes Creadores. En 2016 fue ganador del Premio Nacional de Narrativa Mariano Azuela. Ha publicado los libros de cuentos El espectador (2013) y Me negarás tres veces (2017), así como, en colaboración con Sandra Ruiz, la antología Kwaidan. Extrañas narraciones del Japón antiguo
