“I feel the most sorry for the ones who starved to death. I'll never get over that feeling. People today say 'I'm starving' when they are hungry - but they don't understand what that really means.”
Shigeru Mizuki, Showa 1953-1989: A History of Japan

“It's necessary to learn from the past, to not repeat the same mistakes. And to never forget it was real! This actually happened to us!”
Shigeru Mizuki, Showa 1953-1989: A History of Japan

“Showa...never forget the price that was paid for the world you live in now. Never forget the lessons of history. It's up to you. Don't make the same mistake again!!!”
