George Howard Brett played professional Major League Baseball for the Kansas City Royals, 1973–1993, and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999 on the first ballot on the strength of being one of only four players in the history of the league to accumulate over 3,000 hits, 300 home runs, and a career .300 batting average.
