1940 ഫെബ്രുവരി 19നു കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയിലെ വൈക്കം ഉല്ലലഗ്രാമത്തില്‍ ജനിച്ച പ്രൊഫ എസ് ശിവദാസ് 1962 മുതല്‍ 1995 വരെ കോട്ടയം സിഎംഎസ് കോളെജില്‍ അദ്ധ്യാപകനായിരുന്നു. കേരള ശാസ്ത്ര സാഹിത്യ പരിഷത്തിന്റെ കോട്ടയം ജില്ലയുടെ സ്ഥാപക സെക്രട്ടറിയായിരുന്നു. യുറീക്ക, ശാസ്ത്രകേരളം, ബാലശാസ്ത്രം, എങ്ങനെ? എങ്ങനെ? എന്നിവയുടെ എഡിറ്ററായും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. പരിഷത് പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണസമിതി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍, വിശ്വവിജ്ഞാനകോശം കണ്‍സള്‍ട്ടിംഗ് എഡിറ്റര്‍, എന്നീ നിലകളില്‍ സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കര്‍ത്താവാണ്. കഥകള്‍, നാടകങ്ങള്‍, നോവലുകള്‍, ശാസ്ത്രലേഖനങ്ങള്‍, പഠനപ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍, തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ ശാഖകളിലുള്ള നൂറോളം ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ രചയിതാവാണ്.
