Alberto Garrandés es un escritor, cuentista, novelista, ensayista, investigador y editor cubano.
Se graduó de Licenciatura en Filología en 1983. Fue Investigador Agregado por el Instituto de Literatura y Lingüística del Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología y Medio Ambiente, donde trabajó de 1984 a 1992.
De 1995 a 1999 fungió como editor-jefe de la redacción de narrativa de la Editorial Letras Cubanas del Instituto Cubano del Libro.
Actualmente es columnista de Cubaliteraria, el Portal de la Literatura cubana, y de la revista cultural cubana La Jiribilla.
En 2005 se le confirió la Distinción por la Cultura Nacional.
