A big THANK YOU to the people of the Belgian region of Wallonia for stopping (so far) the insidious so-called CETA "free trade" deal between the EU and Canada that, like the similar TTIP deal, would give large corporations more power than countries and allow them to sue governments if they think a new law would hinder their potential future profits - repeat, if they think - no evidence required - a new law might hinder their potential future profits - with hearings to be held in secret and presided over by corporate CEOs. I'm not kidding, if a corporation doesn't like the look or sound of a law such as, say, putting health warnings on cigarette packets, they can sue the government passing such a law and have a secret trial presided over by fellow CEOs. Research The Guardian's George Monbiot if you don't believe me, he's been screaming about TTIP and this for a long time, also fellow Guardian columnist Owen Jones. This is F**KING OUTRAGEOUS! Why would governments want to cede such power so that they are in effect subservient to corporations? And why is it only Wallonia out of all the 28 countries in the EU that has stood up to stop this despicable treaty? Corporations are far too powerful as it is. FFS, do we really want to live in a world ruled by Coca-Cola, AT&T and the big tobacco companies? Are we all living in Bizarro World??? Wake up people!
