The Best Laid Plans….

Greetings true believers!

Ech. I remember back in the beforetimes. I remember the long long ago when I refused to resort to gratuitous Exclamation Marks. And yet here we are. I fought the tide and fell before the waves. Now I’m like the rest of the plebeians, promiscuous with my punctuation to the point of profligacy.

As I finally begin to write this blog, it is 2:58 AM on Friday morning. I’d planned on writing about taking my kids to the local pride festival and doing some art design for the Di...

Jesse Happy Father’s Day, Pat!

message 4: by Vickie (new)

Vickie Dutton I agree with Sarah - finish your 3rd book.

message 5: by Rylin (new)

Rylin Trolls stop trolling and write your own first book. Once you've finished your third, come back and tell us how easy it was - be sure to give us a link so we can offer lots of helpful feedback.

I'd give you a list of authors to read while waiting for Pat's third masterpiece but I'd hate to inflict you on any of them.

ianismajoris i like to think that every time someone asks for the third book, it gets pushed back one month further

message 7: by David (new)

David Wylie Rylin has it right. It's not like the third book is a 200 page teen fantasy story. If he's not able to get it done right now there is a reason. If you can't support an author then just move on.

message 8: by Prudence (new)

Prudence Yes, @ianismajoris, that sounds reasonable. The book was days from being finished several times, but then another dozen people rudely demanded Mr Rothfuss to "finish the 3rd book", and whoosh, it went sailing into the future once again.

Vitor Patrick Rothfuss is not your b1tch - he can do whatever he wants with his time and you should find better things to do with yours.

to'c Teacher says "Every time an author finishes his third book an angel gets its wings." I personally think we have enough angels and am in no particular hurry to see another one promoted.

Besides, the third book has plenty of good solid reviews on Goodreads. What's wrong with your time machine?

C Does Pat *owe* us the third book? No. Do I *owe* a response to someone who says "Hi, good morning, how are you". No. Would it be polite and decent for me to respond though? Yes. Would it be polite and decent for Pat to respond to queries about book 3 after over a decade? Yes.

I hope you find happiness in life.

Chris McGrath I wonder what it's like for one's own fans to be such rude, insufferable jerks. I bet it's extremely encouraging and makes me excited and motivated to be creative for their pleasure.

message 14: by C (new)

C It's also rude to not update your fans after 10 years regarding the status of book 3. Just the general status, and a general update. Hardly an egregious thing to ask for of a man you've paid twice who promised you a trilogy, and continues to vaguely allude to said trilogy...

Maja Zwicky-saudhi I agree with everyone who wants to finally see the third book on the shelves instead of reading Rothfuss' comments of all his other projects he's involved in. I understand about his need to present perfection, but he needs to understand about his fans, getting impatient with delay after delay.
