How did I sink so low?

I have just been contacted by the local junior college, Tarrant County College, in my home town of Ft. Worth. I have been told that one of their professors is using my book in her composition class. They are studying the plays of Shakespeare, the poems of Alfred Lord Tennyson, and me. They needed twenty-five more books for the rest of the class and wondered if I might have that many on hand that they could purchase.
Oh, how have I sunk so low as to be grouped with these no talent hacks?

Arlene Oh, be still my heart. I will have to eat some chocolate to temper my grief for your low esteem in your community. LOL

Good on you!

message 2: by Sandra (new)

Sandra lol! I agree; how low can you get?

Congratulations!

message 3: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Could you save some of the chocolate for me. Just in case some fool thinks those other hacks are better than me.

Hey Arlene, That is a great book trailer.

Tommy In my book, The Second Virgin Birth, of course I have Angels. I have been written to by many people telling me that they have met an Angel one time in their life. I was just wondering, how many of you, think or know that you have met an Angel at some point in your life.

message 10: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Harris Congrats! when it comes to Chocolate, i'm there and also love all plays of Shakespeare and the poems of Alfred Lord Tennyson, Love poetry!

message 11: by Arlene (new)

Arlene My Angels are quiet and unassuming. I am a volunteer with a hospice so many of my friends there are angels in human form.

I know a ghost stood over me as I wrote The Fox, at certain chapters. The words flew as if they were being recited.

Glad you like the trailer!

Fenixbird SandS Tommy, that is so awesome a compliment to have your book chosen for use in a composition class! I am a teacher-in-training education major & am so impressed that your community would include your subject matter, including angels!

Spiritual ideas are super important to young minds, in my humble opinion.

I was flattered at first, but then they told me that both Shakespeare and Tennyson were dead and they needed someone who would come talk to their classes. So I won by default

Oh, I am pretty sure that I was saved by a greater force other then the air I was breathing back in 1984 or so. Rightfully, I should have been smashed by a locomotive as I was driving alone late one evening as I prepared to hasten over some railroad tracks as I was so accustomed to doing. I loved this dark road and the slight hill before the tracks emerged. The radio was loud, I felt pretty good, and for whatever reason, the crossing lights were not functioning that evening. A sudden and overwhelming feeling came over me to stop the car. When I started to shrug it off, I could have sworn I heard a voice yell at me to, ‘Stop the CAR! ‘ I reacted by slamming on the brakes and as the momentum forced me forward, and then back, I watched the train race pass me. Bladder control never felt so good. It was such a sobering experience that I have never crossed RR tracks again with carelessness.

Tommy Lorrie,
I am so glad that 25 years ago you listened to a voice that could not have been there and stopped your car. Was it from an angel, we will never know will we, but if you had not heard it, we would have never had the chance to even ask the question....could it have been?

I Believe so. Yes, I do. It has been the second time I have had a special event of which changed my course in life. Which has been for the better both times. Angels do live among us :)

Bertille, I am not sure my work will live quite as long as theirs, but then they have a long head start on me. Thanks for the note.

Lou At the risk of repeating prior comment, please be assured, there is nothing at all wrong with reaping a financial reward for your efforts.

Not to mention, exposing the, "hacks," to your work could bring them up a bit!

Yes, I see the postive side of this now. Instead of me worrying about being pulled down to their level, I could pull them up to mine. What a wonderful thought, thank you.

Sandra The sad part is that they wanted you to GIVE them 25 more copies...like authors are all rich? buy them--don't give them away.

message 43: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Anna wrote: "Ooh congrats. Is it a sequel?"

Yes, it is a sequel to my first book, The Second Virgin Birth. I had so many people write to me and say that they wanted to know how the story ended...and honestly, so did I.

message 44: by Anna (new)

Anna Walls I love it when a story does that. knocks on your shoulder and says 'write me'

Ridiculous question that you might have that number lying around to give away! The nerve!

I did not give them away. I sold them to the school at full retail. Worked out great for me.

I try to learn something new every day, but usually it is how I did something wrong.
