A nightmare of a week, my computer suddenly stopped working, and I have no idea what is wrong. My guess is that the processor is fried. I know the PSU is working fine as the light on the back is coming on, also it isn’t that old. So that leaves the processor, or the motherboard. I’ve been forced to put a new one on the never, never, what a pain. Now I have to wait for it to arrive, which has left me unable to get at my files. As I said a real pain. I’m using my wife’s laptop to do my blog but find it awkward to use, so I have found myself internetless for the most part, and unable to continue my writing. Though if I find myself without my computer over the weekend I may have to resort to more primitive mean, the dreaded pen, and paper, hehehe. At least I can still laugh about it.
Putting aside my troubles, for once I hear you say, I was disgusted today to hear that politicians have voted themselves a pay rise at Westminster. They have frozen many other public sector workers wages yet, they feel they are deserving of a rise. And this after the expenses scandal only a few short months ago. Add to this all those who are struggling on unemployment benefit, who the government often try to paint as nothing more than criminals, and layabouts. Yes, some of them maybe but most would rather be working, and earning an honest living. That is more than I can say for the politicians at the moment. To me it looks like they are the one living the free ride. I think it is time that they were all held to account, and forced to take a major wage cut. After all they should be leading by example, and at the moment they keep telling us all that we have to tighten our belts. Well it should be them that should tighten them first, don’t you think?

Yngvild More likely the hard drive, but these days it's almost as cheap to buy a complete replacement as swap out the pieces one by one to see what's wrong.

I don't have much use for politicians as a clan, but we're supposed to deal with that group by voting them out when they do a poor job. Somehow, that doesn't seem to be happening, at least when the replacement crew aren't any more promising.

My own industry averaged a 1% salary increase last year, which is a real-time pay cut and less than the politicians got. Nobody is complaining. My company has had layoffs every year for nine years and the best guess is that the future will involve churn, replacing the currently employed but now tired and stressed with the best of the currently unemployed. Joy!

Billy Young My hard drive should be okay but I know now it isn't the processor. I'm now waiting for a new motherboard. If it had been the harddrive though it would not have affected the system fans from kicking in. I ruled out the PSU because thelight was coming on at the back of it. Hopefully when the motherboard gave up the ghost that was all that went south.
It is a shame about the greed of those that are supposed to set an example for the rest of us. My fear is that while they lose touch with the poorer members of our society they are building problems for the future. We just need to look at history to see what danagers to our democracy if you do not adress the issues of inequality, a rich minority ruling the majority poor. Russia and France have both seen how that one turns out in the past. A real warning to the elite, rich for the future. Let us pray that they see the error of their ways before they go to far.
