7/2/15

Book #1, SIGNS OF A QUIET HEART, was released Feb 9th. Book #2, LIVING FOR TWO, was released April 17th. Book #3, LOST AND FOUND, is still a work in progress (80,000+ words at the moment) and I hope to release it before the end of this year.
Because I am self-published, I also must self-promote, which is more difficult than it sounds. Hours of constant posting on Facebook (and I was ... and still am ... the original FB-hater!) are necessary to get the word out. I read that 4,500 new books are released every single day and I often think 4,499 of them are in the romance category. LOL! Book groups, blogs, takeovers, release parties, FB events, conventions, pimping my books ... it never seems enough. The work promoting Books 1 & 2 is endless and leaves little time for writing, which is why I have been ignoring my Book 3.
I have decided THAT ENDS TODAY! I am officially writing again and I am determined to get LOST AND FOUND completed by (deep breath) the end of September! You are my witnesses ... my faithful friends, fans, and followers. You have my permission to verbally kick my lazy ass anytime you so desire if I don't make daily progress. Thanks! Teri

S. Nelson It would be awesome if you were able to complete the book by September! Hope all is going well. Can't wait to read it. :)

Teri McGill Everything is great, Sandy ... back to writing a bit. At the Vegas convention, one of the speakers (successful author, Teri Woods) emphasized how important it is to end each chapter with a 'mini' cliffhanger, or a least a hook to get you to NOT put the book down and go to sleep, even though you are exhausted! LOL. It should be something to FORCE you to WANT to start that next chapter! I am looking at each chapter and tweaking the last paragraph or final scene to be a bit more dramatic or foreboding. It is not so easy for certain chapters, and I don't think it works for every chapter. I have gotten through Chapters 1 - 8 and made some changes. I now realize how much I have missed Tag!

I look forward to Book 3, too. LOL! Need to get my ass in gear, or Tag will never speak to me again ... literally!
Thanks for your encouragement, Sheila.

Alison Brodie 4,500 new books are being released EACH day!?? Oh, God, I wish I hadn't read that, Teri. Yes, marketing is tough but all that competition makes it even tougher!
I've been a bit of a media moron but now I'm really into the swing of things and enjoy it - but it does take up so much time. I can't understand how an indie writer can have a full-time job, write books and still have time to promote on social media.
These people are unsung heroes. :)
