I've read all of the stories, thank you. That's why I wondered if it was a setup, to get him the appointment with the evil doctor, because by the next morning he seems perfectly fine, and back on form.
At first I thought it fake because of the timing: it was useful to get into see the doctor. However, there are instances throughout the book which refer to his shellshock and the aftermath, i.e. his nervous condition which can be triggered by stress.
