I think the parts about Medicine are researched rather well, its more the geographical apects and some name-origins that are not accurate which I think is a pity. (I only found them in German unfortunately). I'm a writer as well and I write fantasy, because I don't yet have the patience to research every single details.
But anyway, every writer can choose his own standards :)

Yes, well I wouldn't have picked those up when I read it, because my knowledge base was somewhere else. I think if I had known more about geographical history (to give it a name), the details would have spoiled the mood a bit, perhaps. Ignorance can be bliss, I guess? I didn't read it in its original language anyway.
