Thanks, Louise. Very helpful in my understanding of where Atkinson is taking, or not taking us in this book, which I adored. Moving on, have you read A God in Ruins? I loved it. Again, vexing possibility about ‘what really happened.” And again I think she’s trying to, as you say, show that there’s no perfect sequence to our life. It IS unsettling, but for me, fictionally, successful. Can’t wait for the next opus.
