I don't know how you put all of my thoughts after reading into words. I watched the show first, so I already felt the sadness of them not ending up together, but I think the book was much more painful to read. In the show, it was simply a moment of sadness for me, and it almost felt bittersweet as though they were still smiling a bit when they were saying goodbye. I thought I was content with the ending, but after reading the book, I was so angry. I'm not super upset with the ending anymore though. I think Marianne was too broken and if she went to New York with Connell and never got her opportunity to heal, their relationship probably would've gotten more toxic and even less comunicative than it was before. Totally agree.
