As bad as Nora might be, she is not as bad as Bella, and neither is BF's writing nowhere near as bad as SM's.
I don't know why we have to compare every single YA novel with Twilight. Every time someone says something bad about a book there is always those who will say 'Oh, but it wasn't as bad as Twilight.' I fail to see how mentioning it proves your point.
Though I disagree with your evaluation of the book, I have to agree on two counts. 1. Nora is pretty awful 2. Patch is the love of my life
Calm down gees it was just a comment, trying to make you feel better, in saying that as bad as Nora may be, there are ALOT worse heroins out there. Don't jump down my throat gees.
I agree Michelle. I don't get why Twilight gets brought up when the two have nothing to do with each other. Just focus on Silence, not every other book out there. No need to put other books and characters down.
Actually it is completely acceptable in my opinion to compare books that are in the same genre, that is what half this website is about! At the end of the day everyone compares one book to another thats in the same genre, dont get why people get their knickers in a twist about it. Anyway my original comment was made in jest, obviously some do not have a sense of humour.
Things get lost in translation while typing and it's impossible to guess if you are being serious or not. I guess if you had added a LOL or a smiley face to your comment I would know you were joking.
I know people have the tendency to compare books, but because I didn't know you were jesting, your comment didn't make much sense. Saying that there are worst books out there, doesn't make Silence any better, right? Besides, I still think Nora is way worst than Bella, lol.
Nora is bratty. The only redemption for her was the fact she shot took care of her dad when he started to burn Patch's feather. I didn't think she had it in her.
That feather thing was in the back of my mind as I was reading the book and all i wanted Nora to do was for her to tell Patch that she had his feather all along. You can imagine how frustrated I was when Patch was telling her she should invite Marcie into her room to collect the necklace. I'm thinking; Hank is so getting his hands on that feather.... poor Patch ~
What made me want to scream and throw the book was the fact that Patch is the one who had Hank erase her memory back so far. He's the reason Nora forgot him. I mean I'm all for Patch. He;s a great leading male character but that part upset me.

Yea he did. I guess he was hoping to make her life better by forgetting him........ Nope, this is Patch we're talking about. He expects people to forget about him?! HELL NO!
Incidentally I think this book is VERY comparable to the twilight series. In fact, based on the Twilight books I made a number of predictions of similarities about this one that absolutely came true (they're written at the end of my Crescendo review)
However Nora is MUCH worse than Bella, she actively seeks trouble where Bella usually just trips over it, that said Patch is more interesting than both the boys combined.
Anyway I also think Nora is a little insane and utterly unsympathetic as a character. Silence languished for more than half the book and it killed me to try and read the arbitrary little events and lunches with Vee. I also can't think of any plot twist more insulting to your audience than Amnesia, and that includes "the butler did it".

I like that Nora had patches feather, it seemed fitting. Patch is just.. WOW. I can't even discribe how epic he is!! I never liked Hank or Marcie. When I read that Nora shot him I was like "Yeah, your so dead." I told my mom in the morrning and she was so angry because I told her how the story ended. And just to say, I like both Twilight books and the Hush Hush books. :P
