His purpose in the movie was for the shape shifting, even though they didn't really explain that he was a shape shifter, Macon couldn't have pulled off that trick without Larkin.
Yeah, that's true, but i don't think they would completely change his character from bad to good, so i still think there is another purpose for him in the movie series. :/
i don't think they ever addressed what larkin was, so viewers, who haven't read the book, wouldn't know about his shifting....
