message 1: by Trent (new)

Trent Ledford what happen to "Seventeen moons, seven years" song at the end... or the Sixteen moons, sixteen years" I agree with you. The movie was a tragedy .

message 2: by Courtney (new)

Courtney It was awful. I was so angry. I loved the books so much and I could not believe how much they changed it. Amma didn't even cook breakfast like she always did. Ethan cooked it. They didn't even get Ridley right.. And I might be mistaking, but before Lena, wasn't Ethan with Sydney, not Emily?

message 3: by Courtney (new)

Courtney I mean Savannah.. not Sydney.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I feel the same way!!!! I loved the book so much and couldnt wait to watch the movie. The movie was brilliant if it were a stand alone but since it was suppose to be based off of the book it was just horrible. They left out characters and just got everything wrong. If someone were to watch the movie first they would think it was really good but those of us that have read the book first know that they got everything wrong.

message 5: by Regan (new)

Regan i loved the movie and the book i read all of them and i have to say its the best!!!

message 6: by Meaghan (new)

Meaghan R. (YA-aholic) there was a LOT of stuff different in the movie from the book...what about the prophetic 16 moons song that was all throughout the book? and what happend to the incubi and succubi? did they just get rid of all that? made them all casters....

message 7: by Kayley Boan (new)

Kayley Boan That is exactly how i felt! I could have made a better movie then that! I read all the books in the series and could not wait for th movie to come out! I was really dissapointed.

message 8: by BooksNerd14 (new)

BooksNerd14 I get where you are comming from but after I watched it a couple times I fell in love with the movie. I just picture both the movie and the book as separets. I really thought Alice Englert was the perfect Lena though. Alden you can't really dis. I mean this was his first movie and I thought he did very well for a first timer.

message 9: by Billiejean (new)

Billiejean Bulkley I have to agree. I'm currently on the third book in series and love the books so I was very excited to watch the movie. Total disappointment when I realized they took the concept and completely changed it. Left out characters, totally changed ending and left out their telepathic connection which helped make them share a closer bond. If you don't read the book, you're missing out on so much more!!!

message 10: by Shelby (new)

Shelby The books are good at first, but start to suckkkkkk later in the series. They aren't making another movie. It didn't make enough $

message 11: by Anonomous (new)

Anonomous how many books are in the series?

message 12: by Japnit (new)

Japnit Dham there are 4 books

message 13: by Challis (new)

Challis Yes, i agree however if you look at the movie as a separate series it was made fairly well. and was enjoyable but you cant compare the books to the movie books win all the time! ^.^

message 14: by Jacqueline (new)

Jacqueline Wervey o'brien if you expect every movie to be exactly identical to the book firstly, there are several movies, Harry potter, The Lord Of The Rings, and Twilight to name a few, that would be hours upon hours long. Harry Potter is already a three hour long movie for each installment of the series. Secondly, it would be pointless to even publish the book, the writer might as well go straight to a movie producer if its going to be that big because most of the time people wait until its out in theaters or on dvd to find out what its all about.Cutting things out is what makes those people want to see what things didnt make it to the movie so they read the books

message 15: by Shauntee (new)

Shauntee I have to agree with Jennifer, Jacqueline I understand what you are saying but at least those movies stead closest to the storyline. Beautiful Creatures did not do that at all.

message 16: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn I agree! When I first saw it I was so disappointed! I thought they could of done a lot better as far as basing it off the book. I don't know what possessed me to buy it in Blu Ray but I did and once I watched it again I actually liked it. Now keep in mind the second time I watched it I tried to just watch it without comparing it to the book. Overall the movie was good, but it was nothing like the book. The book was still a hundred time better.

message 17: by Jenny (new)

Jenny it is based on the book dosen't mean it has to follow it all the way..

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

It might be different, but when you're making a film of a book, you can't follow everything. I was watching the "From book to movie" featurette and the director said that it was too hard to follow all the lines from the book, because the caster-world is too big. He said that he wanted to follow the most important "guidelines" and that was the love story. I thought it was a great movie, though.

message 19: by BooksNerd14 (new)

BooksNerd14 Yes. It was a great movie. I just wish they hadn't tried so hard to make it a comedy.

message 20: by Molly (new)

Molly Roberts im sorry i disagree i think it was a good movie and yes maybe there was a few mistakes and misshapes but its still good

message 21: by Kim (new)

Kim Miller they did a better job at this book than the makers of the Percy Jackson series.

message 22: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Cornelius I agree to that!
I've read all 5 Percy Jackson books and Im on the next series he's in, "The Heroes of Olympus". Great series so far! But anyways they completely butchered the Percy Jackson movie. There were so many differences and they edited so much in the movie that it stinks and its nothing like the original.

message 23: by Nicole (new)

Nicole I liked the movie better than the books.

message 24: by Emily (new)

Emily Krouk As far as book adaptions go, this actually wasn't that bad. It was easy to follow unlike The Host or The Hunger Games, for example.

message 25: by Genti (new)

Genti Patrascu If they would make the movie exactly after the book, then it would probably be more than 4 hours

message 26: by Cheyanne (new)

Cheyanne Schenkel THANKS SO MUCH jennifer, im not the only one with this EXACT same reaction

message 27: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Valenzuela I agree, it was terrible. i was left pissed off that they decided to leave characters out. they could've at least spread the story out to 3 movies. but now i don't see how they could have another movie, seeing as they killed off her mom and macon already. it was crap. can they redo a whole movie and apologize for the first one?

message 28: by Pernilla (new)

Pernilla Ekström It is a move and you should NEVER EVER compare movie with books becaude it is two seperate things the same with other books and computer games made to movies it is and always will be seperate things never look at the move as its the same as a book or a game because you'll get disappointed of it.. :)

message 29: by Angel (new)

Angel Baker i agree they shouldnt have killed the mom and macon but i can also say that remember that the books are always better...but it will be a surprise if they made beautiful darkness
