M All very interesting questions Sally and I wish I had some answers too! I didn't catch the Mrs. Haddock part, as I thought in every story she was stuck somewhere due to the weather, and sometimes the novel showed where but other times it was just mentioned that she was stuck somewhere? You have given me even more food for thought. I'm going to need to read this book a lot before I'm less confused, I think! :)

Ginger I wish I hadn't read that part about Mrs. Haddock at the end. It made me think that it was beginning all over again. Maybe it was someone else's house that she was trying to get to? and Ursula's story was already over?

Malinda I choose to think it was just the author bringing it to a close, rather than starting it over. If she had ended with the Teddy-surviving story it would have implied that that was the "right" or "final" ending. Mrs. Haddock's story never changed, at least what we see of it. I think some of her characters got do-overs and some didn't. I'm giving it the best interpretation of someone who really wants to like the ending!

Sarah Did anyone notice that it was raining when Mrs Haddock was stuck at the pub at the beginning but at the end it was snowing? I don't know what this means?!
