I like what you say about a parallel stream rather than linear lives. That makes a lot of sense! It does seem sad that it's not in the stars for her to have children or a long-term relationship though!
I have to say that I would not want to revisit the events that brought about her two children. However, I think she could have found someone in the end too. I guess meeting a tall hunk of a soldier at the end would have been too cornball :p
