Kelli George It would not be a good book if the murderer was revealed straightaway!!! It would have been a mystery article if the murderer had been revealed towards the beginning.

Michal But Elegant Effendi was murdered and wanted the murderer to be found. He didn't care about being a book character.

Kelli George I take it that this is the very first murder mystery you have ever read??? The murderer is never revealed until towards the end of the book!!!

Michal Please note however that the narrator is the victim, who knows the murderer, and wants us to catch him. I don't know how to explain this simpler.

Fadia Elia There are many narrators in this book.
As for me, it never felt that Elegant Effendi was beating around the bush. His conversation had its own reasons and it was flowing naturally and I thought it, as I did with the other characters', fascinating.
I don't see this book as primarily a murder mystery. It is such intelligent and artistic work that a plot is secondary in my eyes.
