Never alone? We come into the world alone and leave it alone. She can control her world? To make God laugh, tell him your plans. And there is no "self." So no one lives and no one dies. Hanging in there through pain, boredom, passing time with scenery, what do you gain? Is there a prize? Maybe hang in there for awhile for amusement, but then again, there's really nothing here when you're alive that isn't also when you're dead.

But what if the person doesn't want to control the world to some degree? What if they have lost the will to live? They aren't necessarily excluding others. They are only ending themselves. Everyone else is free to continue existing. Someone without reason to live is necessarily alone. It is scary, but it is the only act they can make with purpose. The temporary hurt of loss recedes for those with the will to live. If you say it is the most selfish act, why is not taking another's life more selfish? Especially in cases where those people wanted to continue living, compared to those who don't, those who wish to and do commit suicide.
