Amazing that he had time to write and such long books (assuming the other one is long as well.
It is long, but I don't think it's quite as long as Ben-Hur. What amazes me, though, particularly in regard to Ben-Hur, is how he accomplished all the research necessary to finish the book in New Mexico in the late 1800's?
I know. We have the internet at our disposal. Also he only had a type writer at best! And authors before that, Shakespeare, etc. just a pen and paper!
I find that amazing as well. It's hard to imagine researching a historical novel without the internet, but I guess a major library would have enough info to accomplish the task. But if I had to hand write anything, it would be horrible. I wouldn't have a clue what the first draft said, because I can barely read my own writing. Anyone else would have to have it analyzed by someone who breaks codes.
