This is so true Sonja - you could be describing my reaction to the Little Prince.
I had a similar experience with this book , I was 13 the first time , and 24 the second , the first time I didn't even finish it !
Oh, yes you are! No, it is subjective . Maybe try reading it in a few years and see how you feel then. Also try Netflix for the film, hopefully you will like the film.
I don't know. I was 8 years old when it was read to me, and I LOVED it then. I'm now in middle age plus, and I still love it.
On the dust jacket of a wonderful little book, "Fox and I" by Catherine Raven, author Yann Martel wrote "If Thoreau had read "The Little Prince," he would have written "Fox and I." I read "Fox and I" and thought it excellent. And, as a grandpa I was prompted to read "The Little Prince" and loved it too! Perhaps . . .just perhaps if you "Little Prince" naysayers read "Fox and I" you may end up with a a wholly different perspective ;-).
