True. The context in a literary scene has to jibe with the era in order to have the right 'flavor'...and simply acknowledging race is not the same is disparaging remarks
We could mention Mark Twain here and his use of the "n" word. He was actually doing the exact opposite of what he was accused of by those who wanted his book removed from the curriculum and libraries.
