Re-read this in 2023 and still enjoyed it immensely! Heyer really poured her creativity into the drawing of a larger than normal cast of characters, making each one stand out in this delightful tangle that descends upon her typical rich, bored, world-weary nobleman who has so easily avoided matrimony and the claims of his family into his 37th year. The downfall of the Marquis of Alverstoke at the hands of the Merriville family is both entertaining and satisfying. If you're in the doldrums or bored yourself, this is the Heyer novel for you!
