Kristi Excellent review! At times it just felt like a chronological list of DD tours. Not much depth. Towards the end I felt like I was reading the authors draft notes. Eagerly awaiting that great DD biography.

Mimi "He's already blown through the advance." Snicker.
Definitely

Vinnie You are spot on, early on in reading this, well.... you've said it all ! [Hugs!]

Tiffany Salisbury I am on page 45. I started to think something was wrong with me. Maybe I just don’t read well anymore or know good writing. I logged on here to see if I was the only one feeling this was either bad writing, poor editing, or both. It’s repetitive, choppy, and certainly has that lets-get-this-to-print feel to it. Your review is spot on, and you’ve certainly earned my vote for the opportunity to write a far better authentic biography.

Victoria Curtin Had to stop reading this terrible book after the 1968 typo . And they are my favorite band ever !!!!

basicallycarraway Darn…I was excited to read this but there’s no point in reading a factually inaccurate biography. Is there anything else worth reading about the band that you (or anyone else in the comments) would recommend?

Of the unauthorized bios I've read, the one written by Steve Malins is probably the best. It's been released under different titles in different regions and between hardcover and trade paperback, but it's generally the same text, I believe. I should add that it's not perfect, and though they pale in comparison to the errors in Davis' book, it is not without errors. But it's been so long since I read it that I can't remember anything specific. Malins' Duran Duran book is out of print, but can be found fairly inexpensively.

The two written by members of the band - John Taylor and Andy Taylor - are a lot of fun, and offer insight no other book could possibly hope to match. But they're memoirs rather than full-band histories.

The best book about Duran Duran has yet to be written. I hope it happens one day.
