A.F. Hi, I'm A. F. Stewart and here's a quick blurb about my horror novella, Chronicles of the Undead:

Chronicles of the Undead by A. F. Stewart

Family Secrets.
Three generations of one family share their intimacies with the world of the vampire.

Inside the personal journals of the Harrington family, a dark and dangerous odyssey unfolds.
Three members of this tormented family, Samuel, his son Edmund, and Edmund’s daughter Charlotte, struggle during the 18th and 19th century in London, England, as the lives of this family intersects with supernatural forces. Two intriguing vampires befriend, manipulate and play with all three souls, altering their lives forever.
Their fears, private confidences and weaknesses are revealed as one selfish act ends in horrific tragedy, with far-reaching consequences.

Who succumbs to the seduction and danger of the vampire? Who grapples to combat the evil influence that permeates their lives?

George Straatman Good afternoon:

My name is George Straatman...I am a fantasy and horror novelist from a remote city in Northern Ontario, Canada. I initially joined Goodreads in hopes of interacting with avid readers and other authors...to partake in and generate lively discussions centering around my two favorite Genres - horror and fantasy fiction.

My two posted novels on this site are The Converging and Converging: Mark of the Demon...the initial two segments of The Converging Trilogy. The final segment of this trilogy will be available near the end of March 2010.
The novels deliver a dark and intense blend of horror that will please both horror purists and may well surprise those who are normally reluctant to partake of this genre. If I may be allowed a brief instant of self-indulgence, the strenth of this trilogy is built on the foundation of descriptive narrative and the crafting a a dark and fully-realized antagonist in the persona of Cynara Saravic.

Thanks to all and it's great to be part of the group!

Joseph D'Lacey Hi

Joseph D'Lacey here. Author of these books:

Meat by Joseph D'Lacey The Garbage Man by Joseph D'Lacey The Kill Crew by Joseph D'Lacey .

MEAT has been translated into French, German, Hungarian, Russian and Turkish, selling over 10,000 copies in Germany and winning me the British Fantasy Society's Best Newcomer Award for 2009. It's controversial and caused me to become a vegetarian. The MEAT movie script is now at second draft stage and the book is also available as an unabridged audio download here: http://www.audible.com/adbl/site/prod...

Garbage Man and The Kill Crew are my follow-ups and there's a lot more to come...

Stephen King says: "Joseph D'Lacey rocks!" - I hope you'll agree.

I've set up an author profile here in the hope I'll be able to talk directly with readers, so do feel free to give feedback - good or bad - to friend me or join my group. I'm also very happy to answer any questions about my fiction.

Hi Vincent, et al.
Ohhhh, I love horror. Writing, reading and watching.
Don't you just love to feast on the words that state the joy of tasting freshly charred flesh, with the smell of burnt hair in the wind and rinsing your literary mouth out with someone elses puke.
Sorry, that was gross. I'll be good now. I like fun too ;-}

The stories in my book Short Shocks Vol I are better, Cecilia. Honest. I'm happy to be your online pal. I'm working on Short Shocks II just now and can't contain myself. I think it's better than SSVI - twice as good and twice as big. Hopefully out this year around May (ish)
I'm currenty reading Menage a 20 just now, it's e-free and fantastic. you'll need to pay Lulu.com for it in Paper or hardback. The author's don't get any pay, just the satisfaction of helping authors and reader enjoy.

message 12: by Nerine (new)

Nerine Dorman Although my novel, Khepera Rising, can best be classified as urban fantasy, I tend to classify it as horror (especially when meeting people the first time and trying to explain what I write).

Best-selling fantasy author Greg Hamerton had this to say about the novel: "The real attraction of the book is the essence of horror stated in Dorman’s seductive voice: ‘fear is an ambrosia, a liquor of unparalleled desire that I crave.’ There is something else at work in the writing; something that works around and underneath the words with demonic cleverness."

Cecilia Wow...so many goodies to choose from!

I'm impressed with all of you authors being so fun, outgoing and inviting to us readers. It's great! Looks like lots of good books here and as a reader it's really cool to find new authors and potential new favorites. I feel like I'm getting in on the ground floor with the next H.G. Wells, Mary W. Shelley, Bram Stoker, Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and the list goes on...:>

Very cool, indeed!

Thanks to Vince for putting this together!

Shaun I'll throw my novel into the pot, The Kult. It's just been optioned for film by Gharial Productions, so I've got my fingers crossed for that. As a bonus, I also offer anyone who purchases a copy of The Kult a free PDF of my short story collection, Voyeurs of Death. If you purchase a copy, just contact me with an email address to send it to. I don't bite ... at least not too hard anyway ;)

Richard Cody Hello everybody!

My book, Darker Corners, is available as a print on demand volume at Lulu.com and Amazon.com.

Darker Corners - In these tales you will meet vampires, murderers, children and others who know where the shadows go. Eight strange little fictions shining a light into the darker corners of life and death and the places in between.

E.S. Wynn called the book an "attractive 6x9 grimoire of awesome and twisted little tales" and stated that "Stories like “A Night at the Games” where a girl literally chews herself into bits or “City Life: A Personal Apocalypse in Five Parts” leave you with a strange and macabre sense of awe".

message 18: by Guido (new)

Guido Henkel Hmmmh... how come I have overlooked this thread all this time??? Anyway...

I have launched my own gothic horror dime novel series "Jason Dark: Ghost Hunter" last month. Playing Victorian England, it revolves around Jason Dark, a fearless and resourceful ghost hunter, that follows in the mold of Sherlock Holmes combined with Randall Garrett's Lord D'Arcy. The series is available in the Kindle store as well as through our website http://www.jasondarkseries.com for free online reading, in print, as well as in a variety of eBook formats.

Jason Dark - Ghost Hunter Demon's Night (Volume 1) by Guido Henkel "Volume 1: Demon's Night" establishes the series as a series of bizarre deaths leaves the victims unnaturally desiccated and decaying, sending Jason Dark into the dangerous world of the London dockyards in search of a supernatural murderer. But is the paranormal investigator prepared to duel a full-fledged demon on a Hell-bent mission to create chaos and catastrophe throughout the earth, a fiend determined to wreak more death and destruction than his even more ominous Master?

Jason Dark - Ghost Hunter Theater of Vampires (Volume 2) by Guido Henkel In "Volume 2: Theater of Vampires," Jason Dark turns to an old friend for help when stage magic isn't what it seems. Explore the shadows of the Victorian Theater with London's most famous "Geisterjäger" as he confronts a horror beyond anything yet confronted. "Theater of Vampires" is a story of betrayal, discovery, and horror in the tradition of the Grand Guignol. The only admission price needed is your courage.

Jason Dark - Ghost Hunter Ghosts Templar (Volume 3) by Guido Henkel In "Volume 3: Ghosts Templar," a well-known police acquaintance asks Jason Dark to discreetly look into the case of a missing Chief Constable, which is out of Scotland Yard's jurisdiction. When Dark and Siu Lin arrive in Swanage, however, they find that the quaint English seaside village hides more than its share of horrible secrets. Ghosts Templar is filled with ruined castles, ghostly hoof beats in the night, and a series of macabre murders, which swirl amidst rumors that undead knights have awakened to exact a bloody revenge. Investigate if you dare.

Joseph D'Lacey Hi Andy,

Maybe reading some reviews initially is best. Then taste away! Again, let me know how you get on...

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I refer to not read reviews first, as it's individual opinions. If my need to read was swayed by a review, then I might lose out. I've read reviews in the past and found my opinion differed. Each to their own, I suppose. I'm sure I'll enjoy after reading one of your short stories.

I don't know if you've seen Paranormal Activity yet, if so did you like it? My daughter (18) was so scared to go to bed after watching it, the night we watched it, and with good reason cause I'm a dad that likes horror and the scary stuff :o)
Let's just say I got her so good that her scream could have made her the next scream queen in a horror flick :o)

message 36: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm interested to see that film, but the excerpts aren't that scary. I'm always wary, as surely they would show the best bits?
I'm working on a sort of paranormal/sci-fi/horror book. I've so far got the bare bones idea and can't wait to get stuck into it. Working title: Electronic Claire. Loosly based on my belief about spirits etc.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Surley that only works if you beleive? I don't really. I suppose chemicals can do weird things to the human body. Hell, the legal drugs that are prescribed are bad enough, what kind of poison can be available from other areas? Scary man.

that sounds like and interesting title. it's always cool to read about other people's beliefs and what they think happens afterward. Always an interesting subject.

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

I find it weird that I've had full on paranormals experiences, but still don't agre with the preachings of pychics, clairvoyants etc. I have my opinion that basically there is no heaven or hell, but another dimension outwith our normal sight or audio frequency. There is something that seperates the living from the dead, a thin veil that is weak in places...I could go on and on, but I'll keep it for the book.

wow that really is an interesting belief and you could be right. I wonder if someday the Ghost Hunters will have the proof of anything solid.

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know if the serious ghost hunters are lookingin the right direction. I suppose if you look for something that doesn't exist, then you'll never find it until you find out exactly what you're searching for?
Ha, solid. Good one:D

You can't know how relieved I am to read your post. I thought I was the only one who suspected something akin to this. Not that it's the truth... but it could be, and that is very interesting. I felt so sure of something like this that I did actually write a book that incorporated this idea. I would truly value your personal opinion on the book now that I know of your suspicion. In case you're interested, it's on Goodreads. The title is Wraiths & Worlds. I would be happy to pass you a complimentary copy if you would like to give it a go. Let me know. Cheers! Darrin.

Hi Darrin, nice to see you here. There is a lot of things in this world that wear a mask and not enough people are asking "but what if?"
I'd love to read your book and I'm happy to reciprocate.
One thing I did find spooky, where did you get that picture of the wooden knife? That is exactly what one of my characters, Peter made in Whispers (one of the shorts) in my new book, Short Shocks II. Ohhhhh, that's seriously weird, man :D

message 44: by Darrin (new)

Darrin That is kind of creepy ("Of all the knives in all the crimes scenes around the world, I had to choose this one"). It's actually a photoshop job. Completely out of my warped imagination. lol.
I like your concept of Short Shocks. Wouldn't mind checking that out. Is it on Amazon?
Let me know if you would like a copy of Wraiths & Worlds. Or there's a Kindle version online.:)

message 47: by Steven (new)

Steven I think we are all in some kind of weird matrix thing and that's why we have that deja voo thing...no just kidding I do think you both have some really interesting theories and your books interest me. I've had some things that are unexplained happen to me and since we are all gonna kick the bucket some day it's only natural to try and find answers to what we might have to look forward to. Maybe someday science will come up with an answer to these questions.

message 48: by Darrin (new)

Darrin Wouldn't that be ironic. The Matrix. We laugh, but it almost seems plausible. So many theories. Perhaps we just return to that state that we occupy before conception. I once pondered: What was I doing one day before I was conceived? It got me thinking. Is life really full circle? What if we all go to the same place when we pass, regardless of how we lived? Unfair, maybe. What about the ghost's point of view? If so many sad souls are wandering dark hallways, how great can heaven be? Or perhaps you must learn to enter the light, and a lot of souls just can't get the hang of it? Food for thought.

message 49: by Steven (new)

Steven Darrin wrote: "Wouldn't that be ironic. The Matrix. We laugh, but it almost seems plausible. So many theories. Perhaps we just return to that state that we occupy before conception. I once pondered: What was I do..."

Ah the questions are endless. Do you ever wonder if maybe in the ghosts world we are the ghosts and we scare and bug them? Hmmmm

message 50: by Darrin (new)

Darrin The dark mirror theory. Could be true. So many aspects of life are unknown, perhaps there's another question we should be asking. Don't ask what that is though, :)
