Denise DeSio Hi All,
For a limited time, I am doing a read and review giveaway of Rose's Will, a novel in which two of the 3 main characters are non-believers. Here is my latest review:
Rose's Will cuts close to the psychological bone. If you've ever contemplated the universal topic of family pain and drama, reading this novel is like rubbernecking the scene of the accident. Denise DeSio, in her first novel, has mastered "the pure, clear word", as described by the great American poet James Wright. The writing is spare and authentic, the pace is quick, and the plot clever. Amazingly, the ending is happy and unexpected. It takes a very gifted writer to tackle this potentially tear-jerking topic and deliver a novel with great compassion and wit, but no self pity. Highly recommended.

Sign up to receive Rose's Will here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7... Specify whether you want an epub, mobi, or pdf file.

Augustus Cileone My ebook, Feast or Famine, is free for Amazon Prime users, but it can be bought for $0.99. Sadie Forsythe While not strictly atheist, The Weeping Empress questions the position of religion, and might be of interest to the group.

It is also free to download here on Goodreads for the rest of the month.

synosis:
Chiyo Alglaeca was happy in her life. That is, until it was all taken away. Forced into notoriety, stalked by a mysterious cult, hunted by the emperor, and facing betrayal at every turn she clings to the only safety she can find: two enigmatic men and the sharp bringer of death, Salvation. The Weeping Empress explores the devastating effects of loss, the hunt for redemption, and the price of destiny. It questions the true meaning of evil and asks what monster is not also an innocent?

Tom Lichtenberg Last year when Newt Gingrich was pandering like mad in Florida, he proposed that America put up a permanent base on the moon just so the Chinese wouldn't do it first. I loved this idea so much, especially when it occurred to me that the people most likely to do well in such a colony would be secular, socialist, bisexual vegetarians. So I wrote a little comedy about that, and it's free from Smashwords:

message 11: by Diane (new)

Diane Lefer Good morning!
Looking for readers who'd like to receive and review an advance e-copy of my novel, The Fiery Alphabet, to be published on September 5th. It's the story of Daniela Messo, raised in 18th-century Rome to be a freethinker with all the values of the Age of Enlightenment–a way of life that means danger in Papal Rome. She and her father withdraw themselves from the world until Giuseppe Balsamo (known to history as the occultist Cagliostro) arrives, convinced Daniela has inherited the secrets of a long-dead Jewish mystic. They travel across Europe together, posing as wonder-working pilgrims as they swindle their way east toward Jerusalem and as Daniela struggles to find a woman's place in the world for her body, mind, and what she has no other word for but "soul."

An atheist myself, writing the novel gave me a chance to explore my fascination with the power of religious belief and the need that burns in so many people--too often dangerously and to the detriment of both individuals and society.

I've been thrilled with the advance word so far. For example, from the review that will appear in the fall issue of Foreword Magazine:

"Lefer has written a complex and thoroughly satisfying book, a work that, above all, is about the power of words to bring life or death, to create walls that imprison body and mind, or to break those walls down and open the gates to freedom."

Please contact me directly at DianeLefer@gmail.com to request a PDF, epub, or mobi copy. Thanks!

(By the way, as of this writing, Amazon shows the book in stock. It isn't!)

H.M. Ada WHAT IF THE THEISTS ARE RIGHT?

This is the topic of my new book, The Alpha and the Omega, and I would love to get some advance opinions on it from people in this group before I go to publication.

My book blurb is below, and despite the description, it is not a pro-religion book, but tries to present both sides of the debate in an interesting new light - and you will need to read it to see what I am ultimately getting at! Please email me at hmcharleyada@gmail.com if you are interested, and I will send you a copy of my 75,000-word manuscript (free of course). Thanks!

The Alpha and the Omega: An absurd philosophical tale about God, the end of the world, and what’s on the other planets.

Monday, March 30, 2015 begins like any other day for Zack, a devout atheist with a profitable appointment as an equity fund manager at a top Wall Street firm. He squeezes into the last seat on the subway car and does not say anything to the man sitting next to him selfishly hogging all the space. He grabs a coffee at his favorite newsstand and heads to his office. And later, his eyes wander to the photo of his dead parents on the corner of his desk.

However, a few minutes after the closing bell, a most unusual thing happens. The true and living God of Heaven and Earth walks into Zack’s office and declares that he is real, that he is ending the world and turning Earth into the new Heaven, and that Zack may stay, despite his atheism, because he was a good person.

Once Zack gets his bearings in the stunning dreamscape that is God’s new kingdom on Earth, God introduces him to Lilly, a headstrong former-lawyer for the poor who also once worshipped at the church of the faithless. Together, they explore paradise’s many wonders large and small, such as telepathy, the cloud cities, and never needing to use a bathroom. In this, they find a measure of happiness. However, not everything is as it seems, as it may turn out that God has a reason for not revealing what he keeps on the other planets … and there just might be more than one deity in the universe.

The Alpha and the Omega is a satiric, post-apocalyptic love story. It’s an absurd philosophical tale. It’s a James Cameron-style, Hollywood-blockbuster, sci-fi/action movie waiting to be made. And it will answer all of your deepest questions about the meaning of life and will reveal all of the universe’s wildest, most incredible secrets. I promise.

Jessie Hello,
There is a giveaway until Dec 31st of a wonderful book called Survival Of The Fittest by Robin Hawdon. It is part tense detective story, part a daily journal about life in the Charles Darwin household, and partly a Second World War spy story. It sounds highly confusing, but in fact all the strands are connected and the whole is the best argument against God belief I ever read, because it climaxes with the discovery of Darwin's own secret thoughts about it, which can hardly be faulted.
I think the giveaway is on Goodreads but if not it's on the publisher's web page http://sbpra.com/robinhawdon.

SATAN'S GUIDE to the BIBLE - a drive-by tour for the intellectually curious.

A humorous Harry Potter meets Richard Dawkins kind of romp in Hell with the Diabolical Trio of Satan, Hitch and Snikwad, and some fiendish new academic stuff thrown in as well.

The First Revelation is totally FREE at Smashwords, and I send a magic Smashwords coupon number to Goodreads members who post a review (doesn't matter what you say) to download the Second Revelation for free as well, because I just love it when people read my stuff and pay me attention.

Satan's Guide to the Bible 1 Satan, Hitch and Snikwad Face Their Demons by Stuart Lorde

Kaleesha Williams While not the author of this book, I have taken it upon myself to help promote it because I found it to be delightful! If you're looking for a lighthearted, highly entertaining read to break the monotony, but don't want to leave behind your love of skepticism, might I recommend "The Unhappy Medium"? It's one of the funniest and most clever books that I've ever read. (And I'm not the only one saying this, check out the reviews!) T.J. Brown is a master storyteller. While charming us with unique, likable (and despicable) characters and leading us on unlikely adventures, he jabs at all things supernatural with a rapier wit skillfully crafted in the forge of science, skepticism and mt. Rum Doodle's shadow.

I happen to know that the author will be offering it free on Amazon this coming Wednesday, Sept 17. http://www.amazon.com/Unhappy-Medium-... Also available in the UK. Check it out!

Kaleesha Williams Free on Amazon, March 3rd!
4.3 star average on 23 reviews

It’s a wonderful thing to wake up each day with the freedom to be whomever you want to be, whatever you want to be, free to fashion your life as you see fit. For me it wasn’t always this way.

“Free to Be” is the story of how my life unfolded during the first year of my freedom from religion; a travel log, of sorts; a play by play of the life of an inquisitive, rural-living, life-enjoying, but unhappily married, homeschool mom taking back the reins and spurring her life in a new direction, seven children in tow.

How would your life change if you studied the Bible to its natural conclusion? What thoughts would stir the first time you viewed the universe through a telescope and felt your insignificance? How would you answer age-old questions about morality? What if you found you were running out of reasons to remain in a deeply unsatisfying marriage? What if you woke up for the first time in years with hope on the horizon and a plate full of difficult decisions?

Well, this is my story. Join me as I observe, explore and question the world with a mind free of religion for the first time, drawing on strength I hadn’t known was within me all along.

Eric Johnston Science Fiction

Comedy for atheists! ARC on NetGalley Free in exchange for an honest review.

In an age where technology makes life as absurd as it does convenient, Science Fiction does for sci-fi what Pulp Fiction did for crime noir.

Joe Gillette has two issues he's working through: he's terrible with technology, and he's developed a fear of naked women.

Just in time, he is befriended by Old Cool, an alien who has been disguised as a British rock star for decades. Old Cool offers to help Joe with his problems—if Joe accompanies him back to Vermicula Prime. Without much thought, Joe agrees and is promptly whisked into space.

Within hours of boarding the Indicus, Joe is already in trouble: his brand new, alien-developed “smart brain” device prompts him to drain the entirety of Earth’s wealth so he can have some spending money in space, which he accidentally uses on a hooker. He must find a way to return the money.

Meanwhile, a soldier from a race of sentient algorithms is also aboard the Indicus. Joe's odd relationship with technology has corrupted her programming, and the only way to fix it and get on with her mission to destroy Earth is to build a human body and seduce Joe to then corrupt him in return. But being human brings more trouble, and pleasure, than she anticipates.

And then there’s Urti Inci, the proprietress of the Indicus, who suborns Joe to enter an intergalactic culinary competition in exchange for passage, and Antho Philo, the most important man in the galaxy, whose job to fertilize the female population on Plabobian-vaoi gets pawned off on Joe, and a starship upon which travelers are highly discouraged from peering out the windows.

Standing in their way are a galaxy full of beings ready to complicate their lives beyond anything imaginable, where the galaxy's most mismatched band of misfits must work together to conquer the ridiculousness their very coming together has caused.

Aaron Donley Hello fellow non-believers, just writing to let you know a giveaway is live for my novel, The Starlight Inn.

[The Starlight Inn on Goodreads](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...)

I am a former pastor who wrote this novel during my deconstruction, editing it constantly as I was going through the transition over an 8-year period.

Here's the link to Amazon (Ebook is $0.99), book description, and link to my TikTok page where I've got videos about the book and my journey out of Christianity. Thanks for your time.

[The Starlight Inn on Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Starlight-Inn-...)

[starlightseeker7 on TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@starlightseeker7)

A dark, hilarious, and thought-provoking coming of age story about leaving Christianity and finding life.

A reading experience like nothing else.

Chuck Hicks was three years old when a social media headset glitch caused five billion people to believe they were God and jump off the nearest roof. Chuck has some hilarious vid-books of the event if you're interested. Pure-comedy-gold.

Now seventeen, Chuck is stuck in an isolated, fundamentalist Christian compound. The girls wear flower dresses that double as burial shrouds, and the boys learn stone-age woodworking. Obsessed with the ancient novel, "Catcher in the Rye," Chuck is also plagued by scrupulosity, a rare religious form of OCD which demands he repent for thinking about boobs by tapping his forehead in the mud and counting to seventy-seven. It gets him very little action.

When his disabled brother is miraculously healed of a terminal disease, their church declares it proof of the Lord's imminent return. Except his brother faked the miracle using medicine that's banned nationwide. To stop his brother from reverting into a sack of hairy jelly, Chuck and his friends must escape their religious compound and journey across a bizarre, corporation-run middle-America in search of an actual miracle. Their quest: Locate a mysterious nightclub in a remote Wyoming canyon, rumored to possess supernatural powers.

Fans of Chuck Palahniuk, J.D. Salinger, Seinfeld, and Christopher Hitchens will love exploring the larger themes and delightfully absurd mind and world of Chuck Hicks.

Written by an ex-pastor turned atheist who as a teenager developed the same for of religious OCD (scrupulosity) Chuck Hicks suffers from. Chuck's voice speaks his unfiltered thoughts as an uncensored, jaded, scared, and perhaps even hopeful teenage boy. (Warning: this novel contains just about any trigger you can imagine.)

Aaron Donley has also written two illustrated humor books with endorsements from SNL writer Jack Handey, New Yorker cartoonist Matt Diffee, and Simpson's Showrunner Josh Weinstein, as well as a newly released historical novel centered around the origins of artificial intelligence and lesser-known prodigies of the 20th century.
