Lai Tan As readers, if a book provokes an extreme rating from you (1* or 5*), why not follow up with at least a one-liner review on why?

And what makes some readers give, say, a 5* on Goodreads, then go to Amazon to provide a 1* for the same book?

Alix I always write a review with words to explain my review most times. its weird if you don't

Chosen No one has done that for my novella yet (In fact someone leaked the plot of my next novel, not of the Utahraptors series)

Rori I've never seen someone give a book 5* here and in a different place give it 1*.

But I understand giving a book 1* or 5* or any * and not saying anything I'd do that sometimes. cuz a book would leave me with mixed feelings that I can't put them in words.... sometimes I just write amazing, wow,... etc

Lai Tan Any other star: maybe mixed feelings. I think 1* or 5* pretty much depicts hate or love and no in between 😂

Lai Tan And of course no one has to rate or explain their ratings. It just doesn’t help the writer know what the reader hate or love about the book. It doesn’t help other readers as well- to read or not to read.

Tayjah Sometimes I don’t write reviews for my books bc I will tell myself that i will write it later after I gathered my thoughts and never got around to doing so. I’m also in a lot of buddy reads and group reads so I mainly provide my review there and don’t feel like retyping or copying pasting on here bc I already got everything off my chest.

Tayjah And that last part I’ve never heard any one doing… maybe they changed their mind or it was an accident 😭

Tayjah If I see a someone rate with no review on a book that I’ve read or want to read, I just simply ask them why they gave that rating.🤷🏽‍♀️ no one is obligated to provide feedback at all. Like how Chefs don’t go to every customer who eaten their food and have them go into detail about what they liked or didn’t like.
