Bec (becbingesbooks) - sorry, behind with lots of catching up to do Fantastic, honest review Anne 💕 hopefully your next ones far better

message 2: by Anne (new)

Anne @Bec! Thanks 😊 I don’t seem to do well with book club books lol

message 3: by Dutchie (new)

Dutchie Aww come on the skewering sometimes is the fun part when warranted 😂Sorry it didn’t work! Your Next book has to be better is the silver lining🤞

message 4: by Anne (new)

Anne @Dutchie lol! The skewering will be found some place else for me. I wanted to stab them all 😂😂

Sasha is married to “Cord” (what’s with these names?) and she can’t seem to grasp the concept of filthy rich 🤑 😂😂 dresses like the staff? Her husband doesn’t tell her to wear a dress? I can’t. People just aren’t THAT STUPID.
(Or are they?? LOL)

message 5: by Dutchie (new)

Dutchie There you go. LOL! They sure are. I just got back from Disney and I can attest to that first hand on not the smartness

message 6: by Anne (new)

Anne Hahahahahahahahahahaha I know you’re right … but this chick has an MBA & didn’t know the United Arab Emirates is a country?

Did the author think it was clever to add stupidity as an attribute ? 😂

message 7: by Dutchie (new)

Dutchie LOL! 😂

message 8: by Jules (new)

Jules She really needs to stick to being an editor.

message 9: by JanB (new)

JanB Good for you! Who needs more stupid? 🙄
I hope you love your next!

message 10: by Karly (new)

Karly Sorry this one was a suck fest for you Anne 💖 great honest review though

message 11: by Anne (new)

Anne @jules I agree !

message 12: by Anne (new)

Anne @JanB NOBODY 😆 thank you so much

message 13: by Anne (new)

Anne @PINK 😂🤣😂🤣😂 I took the ephemera to the maisonette 😂 and dropped it in the dumpster

message 14: by Anne (new)

Anne @Karly I did laugh a lot at least !!

Kat 2books_at_a_time Hahaha. I let Jason pick my current read. It was between this and a thriller. He researched and read the synopsis of both. He picked the thriller and said “ you will not like PS it sounds dumb and not interesting”. It’s now in the TBR pile.

message 16: by Anne (new)

Anne Lmao !!!!!!! He is so right. It’s completely VAPID and ridiculous with unlikable characters. @kat

message 17: by Kellen (new)

Kellen John lol kind of fun though

message 18: by Anne (new)

Anne @John kind of fun

message 19: by Anne (new)

Anne @Elyse I hear it will be a movie too!

message 20: by Kim (new)

Kim I really really wanted to like this one with all the hype it’s getting. I needed something light-hearted after “On the Savage Side” destroyed me and “Daisy Jones…” made me cringe. This one challenged me to speed-read so I guess there’s that.

message 21: by Anne (new)

Anne @Kim I have the savage side and haven’t read it yet. I hope you improved your speed reading skills. This story was awful.

message 22: by Kim (new)

Kim Be prepared to be emotionally wrecked by “On the Savage Side”. It’s gritty and raw.

message 23: by Anne (new)

Anne @Kim thank you for the warning!

message 24: by Anne (new)

Anne @Elyse I enjoyed the Crazy Rich Asians movie. Usually I prefer the book, but sometimes the movie shines. All those series are in my list to be watched, but I’m usually reading. Shrinking looks so good!

message 25: by Anne (new)

Anne @Elyse I’d love that 💖

message 26: by Alice (new)

Alice I didn’t care about the two-dimensional characters or their insights into how white and insular their 1% world is. Yawn. Do not understand the hype. I loved Crazy Rich Asians because the characters had depth and the conflicts were intriguing.

message 27: by Anne (new)

Anne @Alice you nailed it! I believe this hype is purely because the author is a well known VP editor at Knopf.

message 28: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Austin I may just have to stop reading booklists at this point. So much hype and all falling flat

message 29: by Anne (new)

Anne @Whitney if you continue just expect it to be mindless like a bad beach read. Or move onto a book you really want to read

message 30: by Whitney (new)

Whitney Austin I'll save it then. I just DNF I Have Some Questions for You (what a mess). And despised the new cannabis cafe series because lord knows we can't make an elder millenial anything other than a vapid clueless woman.

message 31: by Anne (new)

Anne @Whitney that’s the very word I’ve described too many female characters in the last year! VAPID! We went from alcoholic female MC to vapid ones.

Where’s the BADASSERY??

message 32: by Tabitha - (new)

Tabitha - This is a fantastic review 🤣

message 33: by Anne (new)

Anne @Tabitha thank you 😊

message 34: by Veronica (new)

Veronica Brocato Glad I read your review. Too many truly good, well-written books to spend time on “yawn.”

message 35: by Anne (new)

Anne @Veronica I agree

message 36: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I am so okay with not liking what other people like, but I knew something was off after finishing this book so I googled the author and she’s literally who this book is about. Which makes it even worse. It’s so tone-deaf. Not only is her husband part of the 1% but she lives in a 4.2 million dollar home in Brooklyn heights. Im just waiting for booktok or someone besides good morning America to get ahold of this one and for there to be more honest reviews

message 37: by Anne (new)

Anne @Sj well there you go!

message 38: by Millie (new)

Millie What a useless, unpleasant review. Maybe next time just DNF and stop? You bore me.

message 39: by Beelove (new)

Beelove Millie wrote: "What a useless, unpleasant review. Maybe next time just DNF and stop? You bore me."

what a mean-spirited and unnecessary comment.

message 40: by Anne (new)

Anne Rebecca, agreed. Sadly, trolls will be trolls.

Heidi (can’t retire soon enough) I’ve had this on and off my TBR … back off— too many other great books to read!!

message 42: by Anne (new)

Anne @Heidi if you ever go to read it, treat it as a complete beach read, about nothing and very forgettable !

There’s way too many books out there that should be read over this one.

message 43: by Jessie Fay (new)

Jessie Fay thank you for saving me the time! it’s off hold for me! 🤷🏼‍♀️

message 44: by Anne (new)

Anne @JessieFay you’re welcome! There’s too many good books waiting to be read

message 45: by Lea (new)

Lea Day I listened to the audiobook on a faster speed. I’m glad I did so I got thru it quickly. Not going to remember this one fondly.

message 46: by Anne (new)

Anne @Lea someone said the voices were like nails on a chalkboard too. Hope your next book is a winner !

message 47: by Robin (new)

Robin Anne wrote: "Rebecca, agreed. Sadly, trolls will be trolls."

I recently had this Millie-troll write almost exactly the same comment on one of my reviews. Talk about boring!

message 48: by Anne (new)

Anne @Robin how boring !! 🤣🤣

Sorry you were trolled but it is nice to meet you!

message 49: by Jessica (new)

Jessica I am in complete agreement with you. This book was awful. I have a rule that I finish each book I start because you never know and I wish I could get the time back in my life. No plot. Elitist socialites with ignorant views and no real problems but so much to complain about. Sasha was the only like able character and she just caved. No real redemption

message 50: by Anne (new)

Anne @Jessica it was awful. I recently read that Jackson wrote this book in a day and a half. It shows!!

I stopped finishing books that don’t grab me a couple of years ago. I hate wasting good reading time!
