Cathy Great review. The plot had potential, but there was too much fake racism.

message 2: by Blake (new)

Blake Fraina Accolade is a noun. Just FYI.

Skyler You’re telling on yourself.

message 4: by Book Lover (new)

Book Lover 100000% - this novel … it makes Cosby look soiled with racism. I found it to be really pretty disgusting & telling. It’s as if he was INTENTIONALLY trying to currently pit blacks & whites against one another. Enough already. Geez!

message 5: by Rocky (new)

Rocky Robbins All his viewpoints were coming from his heart; couldn't miss it. Too much of a hater for me. Won't make the mistake of picking up any of his other works

message 6: by Britney (new)

Britney Beasley Ekkk. Your reality isn’t everyone else’s reality. Coming from someone that’s from a small town in NC. Why do yall love to pretend racism isn’t alive and well in 2025? Saying a black man can’t speak from his reality is very.. telling, to say the least.

message 7: by Susan E. Neill (new)

Susan E. Neill Do you live in Va? I do and this book presents the state’s current realities.

message 8: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Stritof Thanks for the recommendation lol. I’m definitely getting it now.

message 9: by Karessa (new)

Karessa Proctor As someone who actually lives in the DMV, this is just reality brought to the forefront in a fiction narrative. The fact that you are trying to discredit the very real realities of people of color is the reason stories like this need to be told. Attempt to be empathetic sometime.

Worldsoulreads I felt the exact same while reading this. this felt more like someone trying to make me feel bad for being white, then a compelling murder mystery. I think he wanted to preach about social and race issues, and put a "dark" gritty murder plot in the back ground to make the book more interesting to read. but for me it fell completely flat. I regret spending money on the book. Its a 1-2 star book at best for someone like me. Maybe an african american from the south would give this a 5 star but it just doesnt resonate with me. Thats okay the book doesnt havent to be for everyone. I just feel a bit misled from all of the recommendations.

message 11: by Tianka (new)

Tianka B Not a coincidence that all the same types of ppl are calling this book "too much about racism" the same ppl that would never experience it

message 12: by Katrina (new)

Katrina Williams Just say you’re racist….myths of systemic racism?? Racism is definitely not a myth. Get your head out of the sand!

message 13: by Wanda (new)

Wanda Mojica Thank you! So well said. People like that are the ones who are keeping racism alive. I don’t understand their obsession with being a victim!!!
