Yes!! You said this perfectly “She is another James heroin, who is special, because he says so, and yet somehow does not earn the distinction on her own”!!! I was getting so frustrated and annoyed at how he kept saying she was lovely, delightful, perfect…..but never once did I feel or see that she was because she had no merit. Just adjectives! Olive, Ranson and Verena were all so shallow. I am not sure if I have ever so strongly disliked a book. Nothing significant except vague toxic people living selfishly. I have been cured of reading James further.
