P.J. LaRue Hi, I'm PJ, one of the group's moderators. Please read the group rules, or Elias will fire up his cabbage launcher or start his slug army marching in your direction.

I look forward to getting to know you.

Thank you.

Hi Mary,
Me too! I hate slimy things, including slugs.

message 3: by Anna (last edited Jan 23, 2014 04:55AM) (new)

Anna Othitis I have joined because I like to travel with Elias and the children around his cabbage patch and show them
the world and how Elias grows and manages his Cabbage patch.

message 4: by Elias (new)

Elias Zapple I'll launch my cabbages anyway as I'm like a lost little slug. Wait... the anti-slug attacks have started already!!!

I have genetically-modified my slugs so that their slime has a nice scent of jasmine.

I'm Elias Zapple, by the way, one of the other moderators. I like to throw cabbages at people's noggins for no reason whatsoever.

Nobody's allowed in my cabbage patch. :)

Hi All,

Thanks for allowing me to join your group.

My platform topics center on Diversity and Bullying issues. I love children and believe they should love themselves and have deep-seated empowerment as they proudly self-identify.

My two children's chapter books, "No Tildes on Tuesday" and "Clique, Clique, STOP" both have a biracial protagonist telling her story of trying to fit in, and later doing something about it.

I've wanted to write books for some time, but I was sparked to get going because one person stated to me that children who are mixed WILL have psychological problems. It's funny how such a narrow-minded, negative comment got me sparked enough not to tarry any longer.

I've also written two journals, "Affirmation Daybook: Journal" and "Diversity Daybook: Journal." In addition, my daughter and I co-created a little girls diary titled, "Guess What? Dear Diary,"

My bully book, "Teacher, Teacher, Can't You See?" should be release in the next 4-5 weeks.

I can go on and on here, but if you are so inclined, and when time permits, please visit my website to learn more about me, my work, articles, blog post, videos, diversity activities, and more.

Teddy O'Malley Hi all!

I'm Teddy, a.k.a Jourden Renee. I'm not sure how long I've actually been with the fun-tastic group, but it feels like I've known everyone forever!

My books vary and often include subtle, educational messages such as the importance of foreign languages and diversity.

(I also may have possibly stolen one of Elias' cabbages.)

message 9: by Deb (new)

Deb Potter Hello there. My name is Deb Potter and I'm currently writing interactive fiction. I don't see why stories have to have just one end. Kids seem to understand interactive fiction really well. I'm developing my own style of story telling and that's me really, I like to do things differently. I love children's literature, I like novels and graphic novels and adult friendly picture books. I also like interesting non fiction books and I'm planning on making a few of them too.

message 10: by Elias (new)

Elias Zapple Deb, adult friendly picture books????

message 12: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Hello All. I am new here, but I hope to learn a lot from you all! My book is about self- acceptance, learning to love the things that make you different! I wrote it from a redheads point of view, which may seem strange, but we get teased the majority of our lives. It's a children's picture book. I look forward to having discussions with you all!

message 13: by Anna (new)

Anna Othitis OH ok Elias I am afraid then will you show the children how to grow cabbages Now tell me why cabbages and no other vegetable, slugs love all sorts of vegies.

message 14: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany Maybe because cabbages are stinky??? Just a shot in the dark here

message 15: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Finnigan Hi, I've been part of the funslugz group since early December (but I agree - if feels like I've known everyone for a lot longer than that!) and I published my first book last November.

I write rhyming picture books for children but have just started my first 15k ish word novel type thing for 8-9yr olds to be used as a TEFL teaching aid.

My first couple of books are part of the Alex, Dragon and Spider series and wasn't really intending to do anything more than that...but I've got hooked and now have a book regarding children's hidden illnesses, explaining separation and dealing with a children's fears about another child coming along - I hope to do more of this when the timing's right.

By the way - don't fear Elias and his slugs - just compliment his moustache and all will be fine!!

Hi Tammay,

We are just getting started here, on Goodreads. Most of us are authors of picture books and YA books. Elias has started our bookshelf for group members to place their books. And we hope to meet and connect with people here.

What do you do as a Product Manager? What kind of products?

Hello Innovo,

Please have your authors stop by and say hello. Once we get set up, Q&As and/or book discussions will likely be how we try to meet people.

My cabbages are no ordinary cabbages. They've been genetically-modified to be harder, rounder and to leave a nice scent of Chanel No.5 upon impact.

Natalie Finnigan I would say in awe of Mr Snazzy, not jealous of. I don't think a moustache - however wonderful - would suit me!

message 26: by Teddy O'Malley (new)

Teddy O'Malley I don't think I could pull off a mustache either. Maybe a mustache bow. Have you ever seen one of those? They're kind of cute actually.

Ever tried growing a moustache, Natalie? Never say never. I encourage you to grow one. I encourage everybody to grow one - just be aware that it'll never be as good as mine.

Mine can be tied into a bow and many other things. It's like a balloon. Even made it look like a car once.

Melinda Kinsman Hi everyone!

I guess I joined this nutty slug-infested group about December 2013, but feel oddly at home here!

I put my first Apple iBooks out for free in November 2013, with the assistance of my book-writing cuddly toy gang, the Top of the Wardrobe Gang. We are having fun with poems for younger kids (up to about 8 yrs old) at the moment, but who knows where we may head later!

The gang and I can be found at http://topofthewardrobegang.weebly.com

I do think I'll give this a miss. I believe in working to my strengths - one of your many strengths is your beautiful moustache - mine would refuse to grow and risk being overshadowed by the renowned Mr Snazzy!

Tracey Good morning all! I'm Tracey Best and I met P.J. in another group earlier. Glad to find this group as well. I am a mother of six and do quite a bit of bedtime reading with my kids. In addition, I help market my husband's children's stories and his new fantasy series.

Rebecca Hi, Everybody. I recently joined this group, and I've been so busy writing, editing, and publishing my children's book series I haven't spent much time here. I'm wondering if any of you with children age 4-8 would be interested in beta reading the 3rd book in my Jumper series of picture books?? My email address is here. You could email me if you'd like a copy to read to your little ones. Age 8 can read it on their own.

M E Holley Hello. I'm new to Goodreads. My publisher just told me about it. Can't understand why nobody mentioned it to me before. My first novel for older children was published at the end of 2012 and the sequel is coming out in June. The series title is 'Jonah and the Last Great Dragon' and it's based on real places and genuine legends of Herefordshire and the Welsh Borders. If anyone has tips on how to get publicity outside one's home area, I'd be so grateful.
