Best review of this book in my opinion. I feel you have summed it up exactly; not great literature, but an important, and entertaining, philosophical contribution from an exceptional mind. Essential reading for anyone with an interest in philosophy. I think your reference to Avatar is particularly apt.
I agree with Sassy. This is a great review. I, too, believe in the importance of the questions that Huxley was asking, and trying to answer.

I recently read Homo Deus. It gave me a scare. It says, the answer is not in our hands most likely. It says Data will rule, dictate, and establish the value systems - not the other way round.
The age of sci-fi is here. I am both frightened and excited.
Thank you for your review, it certainly helped me start reading! I will follow your suggestion and view Mindwalk, thanks
Far more comprehending and helpful than 2-3 star reviews I read where they seem to miss the point in attached intellectualism/literary interest.
