Hello! I'm new to the group, and I am very much interested in dragons. I'm currently working on a novel with a dragon as a main character, in fact. My problem, however, is that I like some of my novels with a bit of romance. I was wondering if anyone had heard of a good romance with dragons in it--preferably with the dragon being one of the characters in love. Shifting is okay, but not required, and I would prefer it not to be erotica, if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Ricardo Chévere Hello K. Your request has come a bit too early, because I am now writing the third book of my series, DRAGONS, and in it is where I begin the romance of two of my dragon characters. Yes, dragons are characters with very clear and discernible personalities in my novel.

Sadly, I don't know of any other works that have dragon romance in them. So, I hope you find what you're looking for; and if you don't, you can always take a look at my series. Best of luck!

Thank you for your comment. I'll check out the first two novels in your series while I await the third! Thank you again. :)

Marc Secchia Hi K, good to meet you.

My novel The Pygmy Dragon has some romance between dragons (and some between shapeshifter dragons and humans), but romance isn't the primary theme of the book, I'll admit. You might want to check it out for some fun dragonish adventure however :-)

Oh! I just picked that up from Amazon for my Kindle. I'm looking forward to reading it, and your other novel, "Aranya." Thank you! :)

Marc Secchia Serendipity :-) what fun. I do hope you enjoy both books. Let me know what you think! I've been working on the sequel to Aranya but am moving house this weekend so the writing's taking a back seat for a while.

I'll be intrigued to read your work when it comes to that time, or if you need a beta reader, give me a shout. Very happy to help out.

Thank you! I already have one novel published, but it's not about dragons. I had an obsession with werewolves a few years back (and still do to this day). My dragon novel will be written during this year's NaNoWriMo. I'm plotting it out right now as well as figuring out the characters.

Thanks again. :)

Marc Secchia Nice! I wish you many (good) words during NaNo.

Amy Keeley Define erotica. :)

Seriously, there's a number of PNRs out there with dragon-shifters, and I highly recommend getting hold of as many as you can if this is something you want to write. PNR can get pretty graphic (and often silly) when it comes to sex, though. Just so you know before you start reading.

Here's a few of my recommendations to get you started.

Allyson James had an interesting romance called The Black Dragon. It's a sequel, but I had no trouble reading it out of order.

Deborah Cooke's Kiss of Fire was an interesting story, though I thought things ended up a little too neat and tidy by the end. But it was good.

My favorite PNR series has dragons as strong side characters. They don't shift, but they definitely contribute to the plot, and THEY'RE AWESOME. The series? The Elven Lords by Kathryne Kennedy. Again, graphic sex, but done more tastefully than most other PNR and it actually contributes to the plot!

Anyway, that's just for a start, and that's if you don't mind spicy romance. It's very difficult to find sweet PNR, let alone one with dragons, whether they shift or not. I'm currently looking for really good, sweet fantasy romance, so if you find any gems, especially any with dragon-shifters, please let me know. Thanks!

Marc Secchia I love sweet fantasy romance, Amy - but I neither write nor read work as graphic as you've noted above. The Pygmy Dragon as noted above is PG, as in, my 9 year-old has read it :-) and Aranya, while YA and set in a world of dragons, humans and dragon shifters, doesn't dwell on the details either. If you do uncover any gems, let me know as well :-).

Hello Amy. I'm looking for something that's more sweet romance, I guess. Not erotica. Thank you for the list. I'll have a look to see if anything piques my interest. :) Thanks again!

Shereen Vedam K, I've written medieval set fantasy shorts with dragons but if you're looking for a dragon shifter romance story set in contemporary times (urban fantasy romance set in our time), an amazing author friend of mine released a book last year that might interest you.

Her name is Sharon Ashwood

Lord Dragon's Conquest

Casey Lehman In all honesty, I am literally working on a YA anthro-dragon (4-legged dragons who are emotionally and mentally human) romance series at this moment known as The TalonFyre Chronicles. The first book is out and I'm going to send the first book in the 3-part prequel series to an agent soon.

L'Poni would anyone like to come to a discord server I made about talking about dragons and my dragon characters? I miss everyone here, but I don’t want to use goodreads anymore.
