Darren Ryding I'm looking forward to reading Death's End, but I'm busy with other things. LOVED the droplet scene.

BTW, it looks like you've deleted your reviews.

Darren Ryding I have yet to listen to an audiobook from start to finish. Apparently they average 9000 words in an hour, so a 135,000 word novel would take 15 hours to listen to. Listening at 2.65x would be a great time saver, but personally I would listen at normal speed the first time around.

I've been working on Book Two of my trilogy, entitled "Devouring Angel". While "Project Heavenstorm" has a "Die Hard"-ish plot, "Devouring Angel" is more like a disaster movie. It will have a very different feel than the first book. It has a more Lovecraftian theme, with enemies that are like forces of nature that cannot be fought the conventional way. Maybe you could guess what they are :)

Darren Ryding Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed "Project Heavenstorm". I hope you will enjoy "Devouring Angel" even more when I finally finish it - which (hopefully) might be the end of the year or maybe next year. Without giving too much away, it won't be a "feel good" read. I'm trying to make it "The Empire Strikes Back" of my trilogy. The climax should be more emotionally intense than anything in "Heavenstorm". The heroes suffer a massive hammering. Book Three will be their chance to fight back - with some new allies.

Darren Ryding Yeah, "Turkey Skewer" is not the ideal name for a sleek, majestic starship :D

"Devouring Angel" will be set 6 years later. The whole world has been changed forever by the tragedy and shocking revelations of the Kesalzhin Siege. Vithan and Tilanna are officers in the Sentinel. Alathaka is already one of the youngest and most powerful squadron leaders in the Skywatch, but still feels grief and anger over all the bad stuff she saw that day - especially the death of Olokuvon. Does she have a dark side? Gabrielle is a Global Council advisor, bestselling author and international celebrity. Kessalzhin College is being rebuilt on the magically reformed island. The 1000+ deaths are being memorialised on the 6th anniversary.

Then a massive explosion obliterates the entire arctic region, sending massive shockwaves for thousands of kilometres, generating earthquakes and tsunamis that devastate the northern nations.

Right at the same time, Gabrielle disappears without a trace, presumed kidnapped.

Arikili the White Whale - eldest daughter of Mayhara - must do her best to protect the mortals of all coastal nations while the Moredrex plan their next move in their inland sanctuaries. The war between the Titans must not continue to devastate the planet. She sends Vithan and Tilanna to search for Gabrielle, for she may be the key to everything that is happening.

Meanwhile, the rest of the galaxy is taking notice. The Empire of Life - the super-advanced descendants of Earth and its ancient colonies - must debate the future of this strange, isolated planet that produced the mysterious rift in reality six years earlier. Should the planet Haloken be permanently quarantined, or destroyed for the safety of their galactic civilisation?

Darren Ryding I have only summarised the first half of "Devouring Angel". The second half gets very "spoilery", with a few "Droplet Moments" if you know what I mean. I am barely halfway through myself - 128,500 words so far. This one is going to be long.

Alathaka is rapidly becoming the main character of this one. Her character arc for Books 2 and 3 are going to be very interesting, and insanely spoilerific.

I thoroughly enjoyed Netflix's adaptation of the 3 Body Problem. The episodes range from good to fantastic. Everyone agrees that Episode 5 is the best (hint: it is entitled "Judgement Day"). They have stuck to the basic premise of the novel, but you have to be warned that they have made some huge changes. For starters, the main setting has been changed from modern China to modern England. Ye Wenjie's backstory in 1960s / 70s China is almost exactly as depicted in the novel. Benedict Wong plays Da Shi as the witty, world-weary character we all imagined him, although here he is named Clarence Shi, and lives and works in London. Some other characters have been altered. For example, Wang Miao (the nanotech engineer) has become Augustine Salazar, a Mexican American woman living and working in London. It would take me forever to list all the changes they made, but like I said, they have stuck to the core concept, and have done it well enough to keep you hooked episode after episode.

Darren Ryding I have just used Haiper AI to create a movie-style trailer for Project Heavenstorm. I edited it and created the title sequences, but the AI created all the images. If I had money and still had Lightwave, I might create another trailer myself.
