Goodreads policy is to keep all published covers on the site, as readers want to shelve the cover of the copy they have. Instead, when a cover is updated, we create an alternate-cover edition (ACE), as you did.We only merge editions in case they are true duplicates, i.e., same cover and same ASIN (for Kindle) or ISBN (for other editions).
Edit: on second inspection I did find some empty editions you may have created inadvertently and merged them. I also found an edition which I think is an incorrect ACE: The Noble Adventures of Beryl and Carol. I'm saying it is incorrect because Amazon still has the old cover for this ISBN:

I should undo this ACE, unless you think there is a very good reason not to.
I undid that ACE.There are now nine editions, which seems correct. For Kindle, hardcover, and paperback, we each have three editions: First, we have the original with an old ASIN/ISBN and an old cover, which wasn't changed. The second edition is a new ASIN/ISBN with the old cover. That second edition was made an ACE to a new edition with a new ASIN/ISBN and a new cover.
HI DavidI did follow those, and the copy I want is set as default, but when I search for the book another edition comes up
thanks for help
