Samantha Araj I do not remember anything about how the book looked unfortunately. I do remember a decent amount of the general plot. It was set in a future United States that was hit by
economic disparity and severe climate degradation. There was pretty much only dry arid land. There were virtual reality machines, or something akin to the Braindances in Cyberpunk 2077, but they had their own unique name.
The protagonist was on a mission of some kind, given to him by an older man, to find a young woman, a princess, (I think) because he had some important information for her.
This woman lived in a garden, which was treated as a kind of personal Utopia for her and her familv. It was economic disparity and severe climate degradation. This woman lived in a garden, which was treated as a kind of personal Utopia for her and her family. It was basically a fantasy-esque plot in a futuristic setting. When he got there, she showed him a virtual recreation of the Grand Canyon before the world became desolate. There may have been a war that caused the world to change as it did but I'm not
completely sure. This book was maybe published around 2014/2015 but that's just when I had happened to read it.

Jessica Webb I'm not sure about the specific story you're referring to, but it seems like an intriguing plot.
Although I don't believe this is the book you're looking for, my mind went to "The Bone Season" by Samantha Shannon, with its futuristic settings, virtual realities, and themes of societal collapse and environmental degradation.
