Hi Janet! Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to write a review! That’s a great question about Hamilton streets and naming of landmarks like schools. When I started Shirts and Skins, I REALLY didn’t want it to be thought of as an autobiography. Tho every emotion was real (I had experienced them all) the events were fiction. So I made the decision to change school names, park names, the streets my schools were on and my street on which I grew up - even tho they were based on real places. Due to that decision, I was kind of hidebound with these names for To Refrain From Embracing. However, for the second edition of S&S I did change the name of the street Laura Second School was on to Woodward (it had been named Woodlawn in the first edition) to better situate it in the real east end. Thanks again for reading and reviewing!!
