Madison Sheldon I'm a new author and truly struggling with my book cover decision. I have changed the cover 3 times, and I'm still not sure it's reflecting my book properly. Here's my latest version: https://www.amazon.com/When-Fairytale...

However, my preferred version, is this one, which I created with AI: https://www.amazon.com/When-Fairytale...

Now that I'm trying to advertise, etc. I'm concerned about the quality/effect of the cover, and would like some feedback if possible and suggestions where to go, if you think the book cover still isn't good enough.

Harald Hi Madison! Thanks for submitting. Couple of things:

1. You know that Amazon KDP requires you to disclose if your book includes AI, correct? Not sure what they do with that info, but it's there in the submission pages (forget which one).

2. Image-wise, the AI PBK is definitely more grabbing (mainly due to cropping and contrast), but it's also obviously fake. Not sure what your readers think about that.

3. BUT... the main title on the AI PBK is impossibly small. In fact, all the text is too small. Why?

4. If you go with the EBK version, you could make the main title heavier for easier reading.

Hope that helps.

Madison Sheldon Thanks so much for replying so quickly.
1. Yes, second page I think, and I did disclosed it. Even asks which program you used.
2. That's the issue. Some of my best reviews/readers have loved the cover, despite obviously being AI. My concern is that people would think that just because I used AI for the cover, my book is not original or also AI, which is NOT the case. However, I do feel this image better reflects my book
3. Thanks for the feedback, will fix. Didn't realized that. In my review looked nice.
4. Thanks for the feedback, will fix.

If I may ask, in your experience, are AI covers not well received by readers?

In order to avoid controversy should I just stick with the EBK version?

I don't have enough info on that yet. Search around.

It would be the safest bet, yes. But again, I really don't know.

Maybe someone else here can chime ???

I did some research on a FB writer's group and it's definitely not good to use AI for covers. So I decided to change the cover.

I've got two options and will welcome any feedback, I'm afraid of making too many changes:

Option 1

Option 2

Thanks in advance

Some thoughts:

* The two options have a very different feel.
#1 has a very warm/happy tone. It feels like the HEA... the end of the story, the opposite of what the main title says. Is it?
#2, on the other hand, is lonely and sad and cold. It feels like what the main title says ("When the Fairytale Crumbled").

* Couple of technical things:
— the main title on #1 is a bit hard to read (especially in thumbnail size, which is important). That's due to the fonts and the weights of the fonts.
— but the main title on #2 is heavier and bolder, and therefore, easier to read. However, all the other texts there are way too small.

Hope that helps.
