We use to have a big old bulldog some years ago.. He was a big boy and every time I would play fetch with him, he would grab what I threw and then come running towards me.. well, he was a lot bigger than me, so I would end up running from him… what a way to play fetch…
Anne, re the Maltipoo you looked after, I know you're "getaway challenged", but if you want to kidnap him, I'll give you an alibi :-)
My dog used to go outside and I would always catch him eating tiny rocks, like idk if dude had an iron deficiency but he loved em
My dog recently made the acquaintance of a dog we'd seen around for years, but only ever as his owner's car raced past us. He'd throw himself at the car windows, making such a racket that anybody would be sure he was vicious. Turns out, when they're both free to meet on their own terms, our dogs get along fine...

If he eats tiny rocks, and not too many of them, probably no big deal. But I guess I'd want to check that as many tiny rocks come out the other end! Dogs have been found with ridiculous amounts of indigestible material in their guts. Probably a lot more have died of it than Vets have ever seen, too.
We used to have jars of rocks at the veterinary hospital I worked at. Huskies love to eat them. Dogs eat the oddest things. My sister's dog and I have a game every night, where I step outside for a little smoke of something, and he follows me to the garage where he proceeds to grab one of my slippers and I let him run back into the house with it for me to fetch later...
The cat and I have been exploring the yard. It smaller and is surrounded by a fence . He almost got a bird the other day.... he is searching for the voles. There seem to be less of those around here...maybe ? not sure yet. Don;t worry he is on a harness and this just goes to show how good of hunters cats really are and they should not be running around.
We have noticed in our new neighborhood that there are several cats about .
I love that the cat and the dog are getting along in your new home. The slipper game with the dog is kind of funny.

Tomorrow is National Take Your Pet To Work Day!Several people are actively looking for a dog for me now. Plus, I get email messages everyday about dogs waiting to be adopted, most are in my area, some are too big, some are not housebroken which is a big drawback. Most of these dogs come from down south and are strays so finding one that is housebroken happens every other day or so.

Hopefully you find one soon!

Thanks Erin! Fingers crossed!
Haha they certainly have been dominating my life this week!I trapped a stray (he's been great, fostering him until adoption, he already has a taker and has only been here 3 days), and helped a friend try to trap a mom and kittens yesterday but only got the mama. I don't enjoy trapping, would rather stick to fostering.
Gertie wrote: "… helped a friend try to trap a mom and kittens yesterday but only got the mama."So then what do you do? Just let her go and try again?
Because the kittens are older they were going to neuter mama and evaluated whether she was feral (to be released back where she was found). But my friend's mom fucked up and the cat escaped, so...
I'm going to make sure there is at least a winter shelter in their shed. I can make one of the totes with styrofoam/mylar/tape and straw.
Meanwhile foster cat King Cornbread is at his neuter appointment today.

A video of my foster cat (trapping him and getting him started) has gone viral on TikTok and I have to say I honestly don't like when a video goes viral. There are a lot of comments to respond to, questions people ask "what kind of brush is that" and of course some trolls. Next time I have a video that might do well I'm going to at least throw a donation link in there to make it worth the fuss lol.

King Cornbread! I love it! Let me guess-he's a yellow cat?
I thought the kittehs came thru July 4th admirably -- they were positively blase -- but then an empty cardboard box shifted on the bed and they went rocketing out of the room as if their pants were on fire.
AnnE yes he is! A light orange one. He's famous now too, haha. At least on TikTok. Haha Fishface, cats... they are cute though!
I guess I'm on track then! I feed my foster about 3,000 times a day. Trying to fatten him up a tiny bit, we are about there (just enough to not feel his spine.)Here he is on Day 1 versus a few weeks in.
He's pretty happy these days! Now I just have to find an adopter, which won't be easy for an FIV+ cat who needs a dental (that the rescue can't afford).
Anne (w/ an E) wrote: "It's National Feed a Rescue Pet Week!"All my past dogs [6] have been rescues. I wish I had one to feed right now, but I haven't found one that fits in, yet.

She is a terrier-mix, 11 lbs, 6 y/o, very sweet and she didn't bark once in the hour I was with her. Her name is Daisy and I already love her! She should be here Monday or Tuesday, after they check references and with the vet.

Congrats!
Daisy is home! All my neighbors who saw her said how cute she is [of course]. She met the Maltipoo that stays with us once in a while and it didn't seem like they were going to get along at first but it was only for a few seconds, then everything was okay.

I don't want to jinx this but Daisy is the sweetest, happiest dog ever! Her tail rarely stops wagging. I might have been wrong about Daisy and the neighbor's dog Eli getting along so well. We met them outside last night and Eli wouldn't stop barking at her. I think[hope] he is just a little jealous because we were his friends first and that he will get over it by the time he stays over here again. I think he's coming this weekend, though. I might have to find my earplugs!

Glad things are going well! He could be a bit jealous, hopefully he and Daisy can become friends, may just take a little time.
Eli [the neighbor's dog] stopped by with his 'dad' [Rick] and as soon as Miss Daisy saw Eli she growled at him and chased him, pulling the leash out of Rick's hand. Eli is supposed to spend the day here Saturday. Hopefully, my uncle who loves dogs but doesn't have onewill take her for the day.
^^Rick came by with Eli 1 1/2 hrs ago and said we have to work this out, so dogs and owners went for a walk. The dogs behaved much better and we will probably do that again tomorrow.
Erin wrote: "How did the latest walk go?"Not as well. Eli is afraid of Miss Daisy. Rick thinks Eli may have been attacked by a dog like Daisy when he was young [before Rick owned him].

Oh no! That's too bad.
Eli did spend the afternoon with us Saturday so we put a baby-gatebetween the living room and kitchen and kept the dogs separated. There weren't any problems.
