Me too. I was in grad school at UT Austin during the 90’s and shared an apartment with a roommate in Hyde Park for a few years. This novel always makes me nostalgic. I don’t think I’d want to go back to starvation-level wages and a diet of ramen noodles and Diet Coke, but it was otherwise a fun time in my life, and Austin in the 90’s was a great place to be a twenty something person. The rent on my first 1 bdrm apartment, which was on the UT Enfield Road bus line, was only $275 a month.
I had an apartment on Red River, near Hyde Park, for $250/month, furnished and all bills paid. Those were the days!
