Courtney Powers Hi again lovely librarians,

I was given the heads-up by an ARC reader that they received the “this item does not meet our catalog guidelines and can no longer be rated or reviewed” on the page for my upcoming book. Is there a way to tell what prompted this? Can it be fixed? Since I have advanced reviews coming in, this timing is especially rough. I’m not sure I understand why my book would be flagged.

Thank you!

Courtney Powers Looking into this some more, I’m wondering if the book got flagged because one of my reviewers’ mentioned sensitive content in the book (which is absolutely not glorified, and handled tastefully):

“Resonate is a YA scifi novel with a little Terminator-vibe that tackles quite a few big topics: AI, domestic abuse, abuse of power in general, family-member with an incurable affliction being just some of the most prominent. Resonate deals with all these topics very smooth, everything feels natural.”

Could this be the issue? Can this be resolved, or will these words always trigger this kind of action on the listing?

Scott A book would never be invalidated for such a reason.

A proof edition of this book was marked invalid recently, as we do not catalog proofs. Could your reader possibly have shelved that one? Because the edition you are linking to is fine.

If this is the case, your reader simply needs to transfer his or her review to a valid edition.
